People say it isn’t about the awards, but after being fired by my newspaper in 2018, getting a pat on the back for those same cartoons doesn’t hurt. I am honored.

The National Headliners Award: Judges’ comments: This collection of cartoons gets high marks for originality, diversity of topics, quality of artwork and clarity of message. An outstanding entry all around.
